The first Bothos store launched at 20 Hollywood Road, Hong Kong in April 2009. The choice of Hong Kong as the first location was not by chance.  A focal point and channel for the energy that Asia has to offer and at the same time culturally influenced by design capitals like Milan and Tokyo, Hong Kong is at the forefront of innovative design making it a perfect first choice.

Following the artistic vision of creator Luigino Bottos, Bothos is not only a fashion store, but also a destination concept store, an art gallery, an artisan workshop and space for gatherings and events. A retail space of modern Italian design aesthetic, combined with original interiors of buildings with fascinating heritage, the store emanates a truly unique sentiment that is the Bothos experience.

The store is 1,000 square feet and boasts an inviting shop-front design with a façade of Bisazza gold mosaic tiles and a LED display installation for video art on the high wall. Throughout the store vintage trunks, antique lamps and unique pieces of furniture from Luiginos’ private collection are exhibited to give a personal feel to the space. These items are for sale as well, offering the customer access to a complete Bothos world. Even the highlight feature, a Venetian chandelier by Venini can be ordered. A gold sculpture by Romano Costi beams proudly in the oriental garden out back, next to the goldfish pond.

Along the walls, beautifully crafted Bothos leather bags are displayed as a catwalk show. Each month a new themed collection is introduced to the public, its mood and inspirations reflected through amazing window displays. Whilst the Bothos bags are the protagonists, the store also offers a wide range of other products, which are part of the Bothos vision. On the left side three glass shelves display Bothos-branded jewellery, giving a gentle taste of what can be found at Setha, Bothos’ sister store down the road. The hand-made silver jewellery pieces are made in the Elaborathory and consist of contemporary and unique combinations of silver and leather products such as bracelets, rings and necklaces.

Fine workmanship and the artisanal side of the store is most evident in the display of customised belts, designed and hand crafted by Claudio Calestani in his laboratory in Italy. Silver buckles are combined with exotic leather skins chosen by the customer to produce a unique and specially created belt. Bothos also offers a selection of sophisticated and innovative sneakers by French designer Philippe Model. The shoes have been hand assembled in Riviera del Brenta, Italy, famous for producing high quality shoes.

The store’s open space easily complements the visual display of art and video installation, personal objects and display of the Bothos collections, creating an innovative retail environment with a creative edge. Further, as testament to Bothos’ artistic endeavours, paintings from partner art galleries located on Hollywood road adorn the walls giving art lovers another reason to visit the store. The store attracts passers-by, loyal customers and press who enjoy Bothos’ innovative bag designs and appreciate the magnificent window and interior displays.
A unique blend of traditional Italian craftsmanship, eastern decorative arts and modern aesthetic makes Bothos an inimitable adventure.
