Elaborathory = elaborate + laboratory: A place where Bothos inspirations, strong imagery and creative designs are born and nurtured. A lab where our designers question, teach and inspire – a continuous research of innovation.

Elaborathory is the Hong Kong headquarters of Bothos. It is both the physical and the conceptual location where the Bothos collection, from bags to jewellery, are conceived, developed and defined. It is a place where a creative team of designers and thinkers, who taking from point of inspiration the world of Bothos, subsequently research, experiment, propose and realise new ideas within a boundless creative-productive system.

In the Elaborathory numerous creations are born under the Bothos name. These items are conceived starting from a ‘couturier’ approach, where it is vital to make sure that each and every piece is realised as ‘a regola d’arte’ – an object of perfection achieved through strict workmanship and processes. The creations embody traditional methods and at the same time reflect a more modern and unique stylistic imprint of the ‘maison’.

An obsessive attention to quality gives rise to an intellectual dimension within the cut, sew and finish of Bothos bags, adhering to the long-established methods of leather masters. Technical elaborations of  materials and a detailed study of proportions brings about the question of fit and how each piece embraces the body and becomes part of it. The objective is to borrow from, and get closer to art at the same time.
In addition to bags exquisite collections of vintage and antique jewellery are re-interpreted and elaborated into new contemporary creations in this very same Elaborathory space. A craftsman in a dedicated lab creates each piece by hand, guaranteeing its uniqueness.

Beyond physical objects, Elaborathory also conceives each seasonal mood that inspires the bag and jewellery collections. Themes are developed through continuous research employing an archive of images, textiles and materials. It is here that the spectacular window displays that characterize the Bothos and Setha stores are designed. Such strong visual impact is what draws loyal fans, as well as press and journalists to the store every day.
