To launch the first window for A/W 2011 Bothos’s flagship store unveils the X- Ray window for September 2011.  This window highlights the research that has gone into the design and engineering of each bag, showing the X-ray of humans in their daily journeys with the bag.  The X-ray results in the human skeleton and the x-ray sheet of the bag, showing the different compartments inside each bag and what can be stored there.  In the Sherpa backpack and Oma travel bag, a neoprene holder stores a small laptop or iPad, whilst other smaller pockets are ideal for an iPhone or blackberry.  This creative and stand out window takes the viewer on a journey closer to the heart of Bothos through out September.

To compliment the window, a new skull jewellery collection is also in store.  Made in Bothos’s silver workshop, this new design is centred on a 925 silver skull pendant whose jaw opens and closes giving an innovative twist to the piece. The combination with the pink pearl gives a contradiction of innocent girl vs. rebel girl – in one style the pearl is hidden behind the skull, whilst another features only 1 pearl on one side that rests a little longer and gives a rocker style. 2 versions of unisex necklaces are on offer both using bone for the skull with a long silver necklace.  Available now in store, prices ranging from $1,250 to $2,200.

The 80^th edition of Pitti Uomo took place between 14^th and 17^th June 2011 at Fortezza da Basso in Florence.  Bothos is proud to have taken part in the new Futuro Maschile section, renovated to become a more specific and a research/experimental workshop on new expressions in dress wear.

With the new layout designed by Oliviero Baldini, the area in the Sala delle Nazioni hosted a highly select group of vendors and collections with an even newer twist to the style offer that will be further strengthened by the broad product mix.

Something special for watchful, sophisticated and forward-looking international retailers.

Beginning of June sees the arrival of summer in Hong Kong.  To launch the new collection of bags, the window transformed into a display of fruits reminiscent of summer days spent on country farms.  Beige, green, red and orange bags in linen and leathers grace the windows, including the new Hexa style in the variations of colour options.  In the interior of the store, the shoppers are displayed in a variety of colours, sizes and materials.The window coincides with the launch of our panama hats, now available in store.

The world famous HK Art Fair began on May 26^th 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre.  It is the leading showcase for international Modern & Contemporary Art in Asia with 260 galleries participating from 38 different countries.

To coincide with HK Art, Bothos teamed up with emerging Hong Kong artist Yolanda Yeung to display 5 of her works with a cocktail event on 31^st May.  Yolanda graduated from Master of Fine Arts in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is an artist in Fotan Art Village.  Her works have entered Sovereign and Philippe Charriol Art

Competition, as well as Hong Kong Biennial. Besides private collectors, Yolanda’s works have been collected by famous corporations such as Christian Dior and Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel.

From her perspective, all visual media, styles, artistic technique have acquired equal value and should simply be viewed as co-existing simultaneously. Hence, multi-style is always emphasized in her artworks.  The exhibition ran from the 26^th May to the 9^th June 2011.

The focus for Spring/Summer 2011 shifted to the product and it’s most technical parts, with the objective to improve each product and perfecting them in terms of construction, materials and details.  Through deconstructing, dissecting and analysis of each shape.

Thus for this window we wanted to showcase what goes on behind the making of a bag, the processes each stage has to go through, the technicalities and intricacies.  The paper pattern shows exactly how many pieces need to form the construction of a particular style.

We experimented with the ‘illogical logic’ of deconstructing a bag and giving it new meaning.  Reversing the idea of construction; by cutting, remaking, redefining.  The Multi-Shopper featured in this window, for example, can be attached infinitely.

To welcome in the Chinese New Year, Bothos dedicated its window to the year of the rabbit.  This coincided with the relocation of Setha jewellery into the Bothos concept store.  To launch this new redesign, Bothos hosted an opening event on January 27th 2011.

DJ Lucas Luraka entertained guests as they explored the new surroundings of the Bothos store and viewed the jewellery on display.  This latest addition brings Setha back into the heart of the Bothos concept.

Bothos presents Shan Shui Mountain|Water – An Exhibition of Landscapes by Basil Pao celebrating the release of his new book and the launch of a new series of Limited Edition Photographer Bag.

From November 30 to December 6, 2010, the Bothos Concept Store will morph into a gallery space and creative hub staging an exhibition of travel photographs by Basil Pao. Widely recognized for his collaborations with the BBC’s Michael Palin, Pao is known for his arresting landscapes and images from across the globe. This show celebrates the publication of Pao’s new book ‘Shan Shui Mountain|Water’ and the launch of a new Photographer Bag Series by Bothos.

Several images in this exhibition emerged from journeys that Pao has shared with Michael Palin. In praise of the works in ‘Shan Shui Mountain|Water,’ Palin says in the foreword, “To look through this collection is to emphasize just how tiny we are in the great scheme of things, whilst at the same time feeling a sense of gratitude […] that there is room for us in this epic adventure.”

‘Travel’ is also the founding inspiration for the Bothos world and concept, and so each collection begins with a new journey. Our new series of bags is inspired by the lifestyle of an itinerant photographer. Crafted in beautiful leather using the methods of veteran Italian leather masters, the Photographer Bag is designed to meet the needs of the modern-day explorer. A wanderer. A voyeur. A visionary. This is a man driven by wanderlust. His only accomplice —a camera.

The Photographer Bag series consists of small, medium and large size bags in deep black vegetable-tanned leather. Each bag comes replete with pockets and space dividers. Accompanying the bags are two lens covers of different sizes and tripod holder. The largest bag is also available in a military green coated-canvas and indigo cordura nylon.
